About Eagle Eye News
History
Founded in 2003 by Miles Doran (founding Producer) and Pat Cunningham (founding Sponsor), Eagle Eye News is a broadcast organization dedicated to informing the students and staff of East Lake about school and community news. Eagle Eye News, broadcast on ELHS CCTV channel 5 (nicknamed Eagle Eye 5), brings up-to-date information to keep all East Lakers informed.

In 2006 Eagle Eye News ran its first live broadcast to the staff and students of East Lake. Originally aired only on Wednesdays, this live broadcast allowed Eagle Eye News to air every day, Monday through Friday, with the traditional pre-recorded broadcast on Wednesday. The new live broadcast met with overwhelming success. However due to Pinellas county schedule changes in 2009, Eagle Eye is currently broadcast live four days a week, skipping Wednesday, the short school day.

In 2007 the Eagle Eye News website came to life under the direction of Shane Chism with assistance from Andrew Koemm and Travis Furlan in an effort to keep the staff and students of East Lake High School informed 24/7, as well as to be used as a tool for the Television Production class that began in the 2007-2008 school year.
About Eagle Eye News
How it happens
Eagle Eye News is produced primarily by the students of East Lake with staff supervision by Television Production teacher Shawn Anderson. Funding for Eagle Eye News comes from the school library media department, the principal Mr. Robert Poth, and the district office of Library Media Technology. Donations have been received from WTSP Channel 10, our school SAC committee, and private individuals.

The morning Eagle Eye News broadcast is produced by two rotating weekly production teams. Each team consists of a producer, director, two anchors, two cameramen, production assistant, floor director, audio technician, teleprompter technician, and a graphics technician. In addition, a weather anchor reports on Fridays. Two sports anchors write the Tuesday sports script, while a rotating Entertainment staff write the Xtra feature script for Thursday. The features aired are produced by the Television Production students and volunteer Eagle Eye News student staff. East Lake students and staff may submit announcements for broadcast at least one day prior to the show date. Television Production students and teacher co-write the daily scripts.

Eagle Eye 5 is your school television news voice. Tell us what stories you want to hear, video you want to see, and news that needs to be told. Send your ideas and tips to sponsor, Shawn Anderson at: andersonshaw@pcsb.org
